Dr. Mary Gemignani is an Associate Attending Surgeon and Associate Member of the Breast Surgical Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York. Dr. Gemignani is trained both as a breast surgeon and as a gynecologic oncologist.
She received her Medical Degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1992. She completed Residency at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn, New York in 1996, followed by four years of surgical oncology training in both gynecologic and breast surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Gemignani received her Masters in Public Health from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in 2005. Dr. Gemignani specializes in diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast cancer. Her continuing research focus is on hereditary breast and ovarian cancer, including breast cancers caused by mutations in the BRCA genes. Dr. Gemignani has also been involved in MSKCC's Special Surveillance Breast Program, a comprehensive screening and prevention program for women who have an increased risk of developing breast cancer. Dr. Gemignani is the Director of the Breast Fellowship program at MSKCC.
